Independent
Research Verifies Milwaukee’s V28™ Cordless Tools’
Significant Increase in Power and
Run Time
Milwaukee Electric Tool today announced that newly-released
independent research has confirmed the power, run-time and
productivity of its new V28™ line of cordless power
tools, utilizing the world’s first lithium ion battery
for high current-draw applications. The revolutionary new
V28™ product will be arriving in distribution channels
in April 2005.
Confirmed by independent third party tests performed by Intertek
ETL SEMKO, Milwaukee’s V28 technology, with equal weight
and size, offers up to 40-50% more power and up to twice the
run time of traditional 18-volt battery platforms. In tests
conducted by Intertek ETL SEMKO:
- Milwaukee’s
new V28 circular saw was able to cut from 60-158% more OSB
board than any leading 18-volt competitor’s saw.
- Milwaukee’s
new V28 circular saw cut 43-45% faster than any competitive
18-volt saw when cutting 2” X 12” dimensional
SPF lumber.
- Milwaukee’s
V28 Sawzall reciprocating saw performed over twice as many
cuts than any competitive 18-volt reciprocating saw when
cutting 2” X 10” dimensional SPF lumber.
- Similar
performance enhancements were demonstrated during testing
of Milwaukee’s V28 hammer drills and impact wrenches
in head-to-head tests vs. competitive 18-volt tools.
- Significantly,
these performance increases have been achieved with batteries
that weigh the same as or less than competitive 18-volt
batteries and are of equal size.
“V28™
blows away expectations and just flat out delivers on Milwaukee’s
brand promise of improving productivity for professional power
tool users,” said Daniel Perry, president of Milwaukee
Electric Tool. “Our end user customers have been telling
us for years that what they really want is corded power in a
cordless tool, with longer run-times. Now Milwaukee is able
to give them what they’ve asked for. After putting V28™
through the paces at our booths at IBS and the World of Concrete,
we had long-time users of other brands of cordless power tools
asking when and where they could purchase V28™. The reception
to our technology was extraordinary and end users want it now
– and we are ready to deliver. The launch of V28 is a
bold statement by Milwaukee that we intend to be leaders with
the next generation of cordless power tools.”
After nine years of research and development, Milwaukee launched
V28™ three weeks ago at the International Builders' Show
in Orlando, Florida, and at the World of Concrete Show in Las
Vegas, NV. Dealers, distributors, contractors and industrial
tool users welcomed the new technology enthusiastically, with
many asking where and when they could buy these productivity-enhancing
tools.
V28 features include:
- A proprietary
new lithium ion battery platform patented and perfected
for high current draw applications.
- Dramatically
increased power and up to twice the run time of traditional
18-volt tools. In fact, performance is better than many
corded tools.
- A built-in
fuel gauge on the battery pack to inform users how much
run time is available.
- Consistent,
fade-free power throughout the discharge cycle ensures the
last usage is as powerful as the first.
- Milwaukee’s
five-year warranty, the longest in the industry.
- An
incredible two year warranty on the V28 battery.
- V28
“smart batteries” internally record the first
date of product use, another category first.
- Internal
logging of tool use patterns in the battery pack memory
chip. This data can be retrieved by Milwaukee engineering
to help improve future cordless designs.
- Enough
power to allow new categories of corded tools to go “unplugged,”
like portable band saws. Power requirements had previously
precluded such tools from being available in cordless versions.
- Available
individually and in combo kits.
- A steady
flow of new V28 product offerings in the next 12 months
including a rotary hammer and many other tools that will
enable end users to switch from traditional corded tools
to our V28 cordless line.
